Daydreamin #3

The weather is turning cooler, the days get shorter and shorter, and the air is crisp and clear. It's autumn! The season for sweaters, hot chocolate and cozy campfires. The unique feeling of fall even extends into the realm of music. Certain songs just sound better during this season than any other season. Daydreamin’ is a selection of songs for calm mornings, lazy afternoons, and relaxing evenings. Classics and currents, from folk to soul to pop to jazz. Slow down and dream away with Matthew Larkin Cassell, Dusty Springfield, Father John Misty, Rotary Connection, Dennis Wilson, Isley Brothers, Joel Sarakula and more.

One of the tracks that I selected is ‘Living alone’ by the eclectic rock/R&B band Rotary Connection, early home to vocalist Minnie Riperton. Today, she would have been 68. Riperton is best remembered for her multi-octave range and the million-selling single ‘Lovin’ you’ from 1974. Definitely one of soul music's most unique and unforgettable voices.
